The trace mode of a Build Forge agent allows you to capture the actions taken by the process.

Note: Running the Agent in trace mode will not have system authorization to switch users. The server authorization must be switched to none for the test.

Setting the agent to run in trace mode

UNIX® and Linux®:

1. Stop the Agent process from the Management Console
   
2. Change to the Agent install directory
   
3. Change the xinetd.d/bfagent by adding a server_args = -d line
   
   Note: The trace maybe piped to a log file using general operating system pipe commands.

Microsoft® Windows®:

1. Stop Agent service from the Management Console
   
   Note: If you are running in User Mode, then you are already able to view the Agent trace.
   
2. Open a command line window (cmd) and change to the Agent install directory
   
3. Type: bfdispatch.exe -d
   
   Note: The trace maybe piped to a log file using general operating system pipe commands.
